Question:
Where can I find good liquid diet suggestions, and other help?
Hello Everyone, I am calling on the expertise of this wonderful group of people. I am going into surgery this Wednesday, and have some questions about diet, and other stuff. I would really appreciate any help you could give. THE REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION I HAVE IS..... Diet - After I get home, I have a vauge concept of what I can eat and when. Can anyone suggest a good website for the liquid and soft food diet, that might have menu suggestions? I think this is what has me questioning the most is when I get home, what do I eat and when! Blue and Green Algae - I have noticed some protein powders that have blue and green algae cultures in them, are these safe for us to drink? Medications - after surgery, What are the medicines that are not safe to take?? Ok and a good question for my husband, when is it ok to have sex after surgery? — jennashinners (posted on December 15, 2003)

Alot of this should be answered by your Dr.

Hi Jennifer. Some good questions........but they really should be answered
by your surgeon. If he hasn't talked about a post-op regimen for you, be
sure he does that BEFORE you leave the hospital. It seems all the doctors
have slightly different requirements so you'll want to be sure you know
what your doctor requires. After you know your doctor's requirements you
can get some good ideas on this web site about what to drink/eat as you
move from liquid to solid foods. Same thing on medications........your
doctor will need to know what you are taking and should give you advice on
what you should avoid. Be SURE to ask him about the risk of ulcers. More
and more, I'm seeing patients advised to take pepcid AC for the first year
to minimize the risk of developing an ulcer. I don't know about blue and
green algae, I haven't seen that. Good luck on your surgery tomorrow.
