Question:
SF Tang/ Tea recipe
Instant Russian Tea Submitted by: Michelle this is an instant tea mix that can be given as a gift in a large jar. It tastes like mulled cider. Servings: 24 Ingredients: 1/2 cup instant tea powder 2 cups orange-flavored drink mix (e.g. Tang) 3 ounces lemonade-flavor drink powder 3/4 cup white sugar 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (I substitute Splenda) — [Deactivated Member] (posted on December 14, 2003)

A word of warning about the recipe posted below.....you can't use 2 C. of
orange-flavored Tang! If we use sugar-free tang, this is only about 1-1/2
of the tiny little tubs! I'll post this recipe later today (I experimented
and adapted one almost just like it to make sure it was right).

OK....here's the adapted recipe:

Orange Russian Spiced Tea

2 tubs sugar-free Tang

1 C. of Splenda (or fructose)

3 oz. instant decaffeinated tea, no sugar added

1 pkg. unsweetened lemonade mix (such as Wyler's or KoolAid)

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Mix all ingredients in an airtight jar and shake it up. For the
unsweetened tea, 3 oz. of the dry tea is measured as half of 3/4 of a cup
on a glass measuring cup. Add 1-2 tsp. of the dry mix to a cup of boiling
water and stir. More Splenda or fructose can be added if you want it
sweeter. Mix it up and try a cup and see if you want more sweetener or
not.

Hey Michelle,
The sugary version of this used to be one of my favorites. Thanks for
posting the recipe.

Thank you Lynette for posting the recipe. Can't wait to try it to see if it
taste like my original recipe. I've been to 3 stores and still haven't
found the sugar free tang, so I may have to order it online. Wish I had
some this afternoon.I know there has to be some somewhere in a town the
size of Houston! It is making me crazy thinking about it.LOL

If you dump, *do not* use fructose in this recipe. Fructose is sugar,
fruit sugar, and it will make ya dump as fast as (if not faster than)
sucrose.

Beware! Fructose is *not* safe.

thank you so much for that recipe. I have, for years, enjoyed Russian Tea,
especially during the Holiday Season, and now I can still have some. I
just had my surgery on 12/09/03.!! renee
