Natalie,
I never had that problem Sorry!! I was taking 80mg a day. I actually had
no monthly's. Be careful I really put on the weight when I was on them,
had severe night sweats. I have a co-worker who is thin as a rail. But if
you notice your weight loss at a stand still to long, or you have noticed
gain call your doctor. That is the most common side effect for paxil. I
switched just because I gained weight. I then started my monthly again.

Hi Natalie - I take 20 mgs of Paxil a day also. Although I did notice that
my period was much heavier and there was the clotting I did not get severe
cramps. Hope this helps.

Natalie I have been on paxil for 2 yrs. I too was having heavy periods and
ended up with a hysterectomy but it was due to many problems not the Paxil.
I was put on Paxil Cr 6 months ago and I seem to do much better on this
one.

Definitely go see your OB/GYN for this...there is no reason for you to go
through it even if you are on a medication. I had an endometrial ablation
earlier this year and it was the best thing I've ever done! It's an
excellent alternative to a hysterectomy (although some people may still
need one), and has much better results than a D&C. There are different
methods to the endometrial ablations, but the one I had is called a
Novasure, and it takes less than 2 minutes to do (you can read about it at
www.novasure.com ). Other methods are via a balloon or thermal. It
basically destroys your endometrial lining/buildup, and in my case (which
isnt abnormal) I haven't had a period since March since there is no lining
to shed! I cramped for about 10 hours after the procedure, and then was
fine.
Anways, I thought I would share because not many people know of this
alternative, and it's an excellent option. Good luck to you!

I had the same problems with my period from about month 3 to month 12 after
my surgery and it had nothing to do with my meds. I've heard of alot of
other women have the same problem after surgery. My guess would be the
hormones being released that were stored in our fat. Just an uneducated
guess of course, but makes sense to me. By the way, I don't take Paxil,
but I do take Prozac.

i am or was taking paxil cr also. although i normally have very heavy
periods and clotting, it is much worse when i take the paxil. i never
contacted a doc tho, i just took myself off for a while, which i know i'm
not supposed to do but hey something has to work. i didn't feel as tho it
was helping my moods anyways. i have also been at a standstill for well
over a month and a half without losing weight. i am only 7 months post op.
if anyone else has any hints? has anyone taken lexapro? i still have
another 80lbs or so to lose!!! :(
take care
