Question:
Has anyone experienced not having an appetite

and barely able to eat one day and the next able to eat a normal amount of food?    — Lisa D. (posted on November 18, 2003)

Hi Lisa. I looked and you don't have much of a profile so I don't know how far out you are. I am six months out and early on I didn't have an appetite for the first 3 1/2 months. Then suddenly I started having "hungry days", and other days I could hardly force food down. Now... I'm hungry a LOT, and wish for those days with no appetite. I'm still losing well, only much slower, but I will reach goal... without a doubt.

Lisa, I'm a little over 7 months out and didn't have an appetite until about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I still don't get hungry, but can eat a little more when I do eat. Still only 1/2 to a cup at a time. From what I have read, some get their appetite back around 4 mos and others around 6 mos. So unless you are much further out, I wouldn't worry. But if you are worried, talk to your doctor about it.

I'm 9 months post op and never get hunger pains. I also, thought it would return, but I'm glad it hasn't, although I eat healthy foods and have not gone back to eating the old fatty foods. I could care less about them now. I eat to live rather than live to eat! My goal is remaining healthy by good food choices and exercise. Seems as though 3 ozs is the most I can eat at any one sitting, if it is softer food. I don't do breads/rice and most meats are out. Ground round/ground sirlon is my main staple besides seafood. I love Carb Solutions and have at 1 a day for extra protein. I have lost 105 pounds in 8 months, maybe more since I just had a mammaplasty a couple days ago. lol We are all different and no 2 persons eat or loose weight the same. Good Luck!

There are days that I can eat all day long, and others days that I have to force myself food for energy purposes, and only able to handle a little bit at a time. It's weird, because I never know what day that will be, or why, or anything. I know that sometimes when I have eaten a lot, or been able to eat a lot the day before I will get geared up to eat something (more than a couple of bites), and that is all I am able to eat is just the couple of bites... no rhyme or reason to it, but I definately have this happen to me ALL THE TIME.
