Question:
What if you stretch your pouch, can you do anything to change that?
I am 19 months post-op and I have picked up 3 pounds. I can eat most of a McDonalds chicken salad. I am afraid that maybe I have stretched my pouch. Is it possible to stretch my pouch and if so, can I do anything to change it? — Gloria M. (posted on November 14, 2003)

Carbonated drinks are the main item I have been told could stretch the new
stomach. Eating high fatty foods regularly could also have the affect.

vegatables and fruit i ate, i talked to the nurse of my doc who did my open
rny and she told me that veg, fruits are made up of mostly water and so you
won't feel full if you eat these things, she said that you have to eat alot

Speak to your surgeon about pouch stretching. I have seen and heard and
read so many different things out there it's hard to know. Over eating on
a regular basis will stretch your pouch. I dont know if carnonated
beverages will or not, but have been told not to drink them because they
neutralize the few acids we have in our stomachs.
