Question:
protein shakes
I am 5 weeks post op and looking for a tolerable protein shake and would like to try the nectar but I have been told that poatops arent supposed to have isolates because we cant obsorb them. Can anyone tell me if they have been told the same?? — loisph (posted on November 9, 2003)

Yes, we can absorb them. Isolates are IN the blends. You might do better
to be sure there is a little fat in your diet before you drink it, but then
on the other hand, it might not make any difference for us. Normies add PB
or something to their isolates or use them for a specific part of their
work-out routine. For us, they are fine, as is. Made with water is always
better, of course, vs milk or juices.

I like the carb solutions powder. (and I don't like protein shakes) It says
to mix it with water but I mix it with skim milk and just shake it in a jar
with a couple of ice cubes. I like t5he chocolate but one day I bought the
vanilla to experiment. I mix it the same way with the skim milk and ice
but I put a teaspoon full of orange extract in and it awsome. it tastes
like a dreamsicle!

I personally like to combine 1 scoop of Unjury non flavored protein powder
with 2 cups of skim milk and 1 packet of carnation instant breakfast (sugar
free chocolate) and sip on this over a couple of hours. This mixture
provides 40g of protein by itself and is pretty tasty. The Unjury non
flavored protein can be purchased at Unjury.com.... Good Luck!

I like Sci Fit Whey - Lemonade Flavor. I mix it with Lemonade Crystal
Lite.....yummy. It tastes far better than it smells - I just make sure the
container I am drinking it out of does not allow me to smell it while I am
drinking it.....its the smell that makes me gag. I really like this stuff.
Good Luck!

I actually just bought a box of Cr. Phil's Shape Up protein mix
(chocolate). It really is not that bad! I did not even have to add Splenda
to it to sweeten it up. The price is pretty reasonable, too. It was $6 for
a box of 6 packets.

I could open up my own health food store with all the different protein
powders I have purchased in the last four months. But alas, I have finally
found one I actually enjoy. It is GNC brand whey protein powder in
chocolate. It says to add one scoop to one cup of water but I add 1 1/2
scoops to 2/3 cup of skim milk and I actually look forward to it. It gives
me 30 grams of protein a drink. It comes in many different sizes and you
could always return it for a full refund if you don't like it. BTW, I get
the 42 serving size and it costs about $25. I am gonna try the strawberry
and vanilla also.

I like the Labrada Proplete shakes, the banana is my favorite. I went
through the whole trying to find out what I liked phase and bought a lot of
samples in order to find the ones I liked. I bought my sampled from
wlssupplies.com there are many other sites out there too that have samples
like Susan Marias site.
Good luck finding your favorite!
