Question:
4 weeks post op and hating the chewable calcium
I hate the mess. I have tried the chocolate and the mint and I cant hardly make myself take them. When can we swallow the regular calcium???? — loisph (posted on October 31, 2003)

Whenever you can take them, you can take them. My capsules dissolve in as
little as 45 secs, as much as 4 min. Must be the pH of my mouth at the
moment I test them. Some peopel hold them in their mouths for a few seconds
to start the melt down process. Remember "gel" means gelatin, so
they do melt in saliva. However, I normally just take them like any other
pill

TwinLabs chewable calcium. They taste sorta like sweet tarts. I have heard
that there is a good chocolate calcium out there, but it's not the Viactiv
ones they have too much sugar and you have to eat a couple of them.
Twinlabs are pretty good.

I too take capsules without a problem and have pretty much all along. Much
better than chewable anything.

To avoid being mocked by my fellow-support-group members, I take Solaray
cheweble calcium citrate. They taste a little like a sweet-tart. I space
out my four tablets throughout the day to give me something to look forward
to.

nutritionist suggested this one. it completely, i mean completely dissolves
in water, cold or hot, it is lemon flavored, with a touch of sweetener it
tastes just like lemon aid. enjoy.

I started taking pills at 4 weeks out. just make sure you take calcium
citrate. and if your body rejects it, wait a while, but you shouldnt have
any problems at this stage. :-)
