Question:
I don't smoke but I'm around family that chain smokes

I don't smoke but my family does.Heavily and I'm around them all the time my doc. won't do surgery if I smoke. My question is will this show up in my blood work? my surgery is in 2 wks. any help would be very much appreciated.    — Marsha E. (posted on October 30, 2003)

I understand that it can show up in your blood work. My husband had a doctor tell him one time to quit smoking and he never smoked a day in his life. He told him this after he was looking at his bloodwork results. But, he was around secondhand smoke a lot. I suggest that you tell your doctor that you are afraid that it will show up in your blood work and tell him/her why.
