Question:
Having a weird pain and I'm almost 2 years post op.

I'm almost 2 years post op and starting Wednesday night around midnight I started having this weird pain in my chest area. At first I thought it was heartburn, but it isn't. It almost feels like something is stuck right in my esophogus. When I drink it is uncomfortable. When I eat it is uncomfortable. It's like whatever I am eating/drinking has to pass over this stuck item. I did try to call my doctor's office, but couldn't get a hold of anyone. I don't think it's any emergency. It certainly hasn't stopped me from eating HAHAHA - but it is very uncomfortable and if something is stuck, I want it unstuck! I haven't eaten anything unusual or out of the ordinary. Any suggestions? By the way, I'm almost 2 years post op, around 132 lbs at 5'4 - weight has been stable for the last year.    — Goldilauxx B. (posted on October 10, 2003)

I went through the same thing about a month ago and even posted a question and didn't get much help. It lasted for about 3-4 days and went away on it's own. I still have no idea what it was, but I'd gladly pass up that experience again. If it doesn't go away on it's own in a few days though I would get a hold of your doctor.

I'd check with your dr. to make sure, but my guess is you're experiencing an esophageal spasm. I'm almost 6 months out and get them occasionally. HTH!
