Question:
Anyone taking double on their prescription medications?
I realize the reason I am taking one a day vitamins twice a day and also the double amount of calcium is because of the malabsorption issue. On my other prescription medications I am taking the normal dosage. Should I be taking double the medicine on these? Am I only absorbing half on the vital medicine I need? Is there anyone out there who is taking double on their daily meds on their doctor's orders because of the malabsorption issue? — jocelyn (posted on October 7, 2003)

My surgeon said the same as the previous poster, but I'm dubious. First
time in my life and I'm on my fourth antibiotic for a silly ear infection
that has decided that my ear is the nicest home on the planet. I'm very
frustrated and I supposed it could just be resistant to all these drugs -
but it's never happened pre-op so of course I'm now skeptical lol.

I'm 6 months postop and since coming home from surgery, at my surgeon's
request, I take double vitamins and also medications such as foltrin (iron
with intrinsic factor). Every day I takeL
600 mg liquid calcium citrate 3 times a day
2 Vit B (1am & 1pm)
2 iron capsules (1am & 1pm)
200 mg Vit C 3 times a day
B-12 shot monthly.
My lab work is excellent and I feel terrific. I'm not going to change
anything since it's working for me. Hope this helps you.
