Question:
I had my RNY 6 months ago and have only lost 50 pounds.
I started with a BMI of 35 with co-mobidities and didn't expect to loose as fast as most however I lost the majority of my weight by four and a half months post op. Any others out there this slow? — Sharon B. (posted on October 7, 2003)

I had a vbg and have only lost 54 pounds in 6 months. I am also very slow
on the weight loss.

I am 6 months out, started at a BMI of 82 and have only lost 70lbs. You
say you lost a majority of your weight by 4 1/2 months...why do you
consider that to be slow? I was told that with this surgery I am only
expected to lose 50-70% of my EXCESS weight over an 18 months time frame.
It would seem like you might be almost to goal...best wishes!

I had my RNY surgery 10 weeks ago and I've only lost 30 lbs. Because of
severe back pain, I can't do much exercise. I don't know if that's the
reason or if it's because I'm not eating enough calories each day. I never
thought I'd ever say that, but with the little bit we can eat since
surgery, it's diffult to get in the required calories. I do have to say,
however, that I have definitely lost lots of inches. I've gone down two
clothing sizes... love that. I figure if the inches go down, the weight
has to go down sooner or later.
