Question:
Can someone explain to me the difference between a TT,
abdominoplasty and a panni? I'm a newbie but just want to learn as much as I can about these procedures so when it's my time to make a decision, I will be able to make a good one. Thanks, Lisa — Lisa D. (posted on October 7, 2003)

I had a panni and am now seeking a abdominoplasty or tummy tuck. The panni
simply removes excess skin from your lower stomach area. A tummy tuck is
more indepth, it can include muscle tightening, it really depends on your
surgeon. If you want more details of my experience feel free to email me,

I had the abdominoplasty. They tightened all the muscles from the belly
button up. They then pull the excess skin down and cut it off in a hip to
hip incision. The result is a very tight small stomach. I would highly
recommend the abdominoplasty over the panni.

Hi Lisa: Welcome to the beginning of your journey. I went to a consult a
few weeks ago and mentioned I'd consider the panni if the insurance denied
the TT. The surgeon put his finger across my belly button and said the cut
for a panni goes straight across there, I don't really think you want that
do you? Acutally, it is far less desirable to me, but yeah I'd rather have
a scar anywhere than all the excess skin, so I'll take what I can get. I
was surprised he said that because I thought the major difference was just
the muscle work. It could just be my specific doctor that thinks the panni
has to be from the belly button. Anyone know? Good luck Lisa. S
