Question:
anyone know anything about NY state unemployment?
HI all. I have a question for you. My B12 is like 250. so I already feel like crap we are not able to get it up. I work in a Dr's office and I seem to keep getting sick. This week I have Bronchitis. I go to school full time and this is getting tough. I get everything. I am worried that they might let me go. I have only been there since April 7. If they let me go now, Can I get unemployment? Or am I out of luck? I work 40 hours a week — nicole79 (posted on October 2, 2003)

NIcole...I am unfamiliar with NY's state unemployment, but familiar with
DE. I had surgery on July 7th and had unexpected complications and was out
of work for 8 weeks. I had financially prepared for 4 weeks but not 8. I
filed for unemployment as I could return to work on light duty after 3
weeks but the nursing agency I work for had no light duty avail. I ended up
being disquailified for benefits twice. I lost my appeal. Main reason
quoted was "I chose to have this surgery, and if I had not chosen to
have this surgery, there would have been work avail" Lame if you ask
me. Unemployment has NO problems taking their money out of my checks when I
make it, but could not help a gal out when she needed it. All I can say is
if things get hairy....consult an attorney.(some are free consultations)
BEST OF LUCK AND HOPE YOU'RE FEELING BETTER SOON!

The company you work for can try to get your unemployment benefits denied
depending on the reason you were let go. If you are missing work or being
sicks effects your work habts and they have proper documentation yes, you
can lose any benefits. If you are that sick you would want to have your
Dr. take you off work, take family leave to save your job otherwise they
can fire you and make sure you dont get your unemployment.
