Question:
Has anyone had to deal with having a lipomatous (fatty) tumor ?
I have a lipomatous (fatty) tumor on my left ribcage close to the stomaca area. Will this affect my chances for WLS? Will I have to have it removed before my WLS? — Maureen S. (posted on September 29, 2003)

It shouldn't be a problem. If it is, I am sure they can remove it when
you have surgery, if necessary. It is a totally benign collection of fat in
one spot. (My husband has one near his shoulder blade.)

I had one on my bottom, the good news is when you lose weight they shrink
and go away.
You might want to ask your surgeon. At least let them know it is there.
Best of luck.
