Question:
anyone out there have zinkers diverticulitum?
I had my pre-op endoscopy yesterday and told my surgeon about a problem I've had for several years now. Sometimes when I turn my neck, something that feels like some type of cartiledge will move and stick out around my adams apple. This really restricts my swallowing and my breathing somewhat. Sometimes I can "pop" it back in; other times I have to keep moving my neck around until it works back into place. I have to go back to do a barium swallow to see if it is zinkers diverticulitum, a rare but surgically correctible condition. Has anyone had this? (doc said that what happens often is food will get lodged in there and you will "burp" up rotten food.) Thanks — Katherine H. (posted on September 28, 2003)

I had the same problem for several years, I never thought about seeing a
doctor for it because if I turned my neck and stretched it, it would go
back in place, although it would take several attempts before it worked.
About a year ago I realized I hadn't had it for about 5 years. For some
reason it just stopped.
