Question:
gall bladder or dumping?
It seems like some of the symptoms caused by dumping are similiar to the symptoms of a bad gall bladder...So I was wondering how you would know if it is your gall bladder instead of just dumping other than having it tested? — jennifer A. (posted on September 27, 2003)

Usually dumping doesn't cause severe pain as I hear a gallbladder attack
can. Usually dumping just gives you a sweaty, rapid heartbeat, tired,
allover feeling crappy type of feeling...but no pain. I have heard of some
people with LATE dumping having pain/cramping with diarrhea.

I had my gall bladder out 6 years ago due to severe gallbladder attacks.
I've also had dumping episodes and trust me they are nowhere near the same.
Gall bladder attacks usually cause pain in the upper right quadrant, chest
and into the back. The first time I had it I thought it was a gas bubble
that wouldn't move and it was excruciating. Dumping just makes me feel
sweaty, extreme thirst, extreme sleepiness, nauseous, and just plain
aweful.

original poster~ Thanks for the info...I think I had a gall bladder attack
then instead of dumping.Last night,I ate a sugar free chocolate covered ice
cream bar that I had, had twice before without any problem. After I ate it I
started to have excruciating sharp and crampy type pains in my pouch area
that went through to my back.I felt a little nauseaus too and vomited
once,It lasted for an hour. The 2 other times that I have dumped were
nothing like this so I thought it was kinda strange. It was so extremely
painful I could hardly breath. It reminded me of when I was in labor
actually.
