Insoluble and Soluble Fiber
What is the difference between insoluble and soluble fiber? Which one is better for us? — Nan G. (posted on September 24, 2003)

I'm not 100% on this, but being that no one else has answered, I'll give it
a try. Insoluble fiber is fiber that does not take on anyything on the way
through the digestive track. Actually, it has a 'cleansing' effect. A
good example is corn. Soluble fiber is fiber that takes in liquid, or can
have other things 'glom' onto it, on the way though. A good example would
be rice/pasta. Both types are still 'fiber'...but insoluble is by far the
better choice. Hope that helps...or is correct...or something!
