Follow their rules and lose some weight. Bariatric surgeons know we've lost
weight before and couldn't keep it off. Losing some weight before lets you
"practice" the behaviors you will do after. It helps your liver
and I don't know what else. You won't be perfect but give it a try. It's
really not a trick they are playing on you to deny you surgery. I lost 53
lbs in the 3 months prior to my surgery.

I put the wrong weight in my previous post - 43 lbs prior to surgery and 14
at 2 weeks after for a total of 57. My surgey was August 15th, and I'll get
weighed again on the 23rd of Sept.
Good luck!

Hey, after 6 months, I lost a WHOLE EIGHT POUNDS and will be re-submitting
this week for approval. There is nothing stated, within Cigna guidlines,
nor NIH guideslines that states that you MUST lose weight. Now granted,
not ALL my days were a strict 1800 cal. day, but I did give it a good faith
effort.
They don't ask you, or require you to lose TONS, just give it a "good
faith" effort. Even people after surgery have less than stellar
eating days. I never was that sucessful even when giving 110% with W.
Watchers.
