Question:
I am 6 days post op and today I vomitted on nothig but water, broth, and jello.
I spoke my Dr's. nurse and she said that because it was clear with bubbles then it's called frothing. She suggested that I wait a few hours with no food/water then try just drinking warm water. I'm doing this but I'll still naciated. Anyone have any tips? I'm not feeling so good! :-/ — SJP (posted on September 12, 2003)

You probably wont believe this but I would be willing to bet you ate too
much or too fast!!!!! Even Jell-O and broth can do that to you in the
beginning. I was nauseated for about the first month off and on and I
vomited the frothy stuff a lot in the beginning. The things I got sick on
as a new post op left a permanent memory and to this day I have never eaten
Jell-O again!!!!!! Don't worry just go slower and eat less and you should
be fine. That frothy stuff can last for hours though until all of you food
comes out. Good Luck to you. Wendi open RNY 9/19/02 down 139lbs

I would do what Wendy and the nurse suggested. But if it keeps up I would
call the dr again.

When I was a new post-op I was sick from drinking water...it was explained
to me that many people get sick on water post-op because water is
isotonic....I could not drink "plain" water for 6 weeks unless I
put lemon or crystal lite in it....try this and see if it works!
lots of luck
