Question:
Does any one know of an insurance company that covers wls for students?
I'm actually a third year medical student and I wanted to have my surgery done this Christmas but I didn't know if that would interfere with my rotations. I have internal med then ob/gyn starting in Jan. I have gone back and forward about the decision to have this surgery and right when I was completely ready and about to schedule an appt. with a surgeon, I found out that my school student insurance switched insurance carriers and this company doesn't cover any kind of weight management. I feel so defeated. I'm 275lb and I can't tell you how hard it is to deal with patients that look at you like how can you tell me how to take care of my health when you look like that. I too am from PA and I had my mothers insurance for a while til I stopped
being a full time student. I had to buy my own insurance and I got BCBS
Personal choice, its expensive, I pay like 400 a month for it, but it
covered my insurance and they are great to deal with. I know they have a
student plan too but I dont know if that covers the surgery. Go to IBX.com
and call them toll free and ask!
