Question:
After WLS and falopin tube removed
Has any one who has had WLS got pregant after they lost allot of weight . That has had 1 of their falopin tubes removed? I had to have 1 removed a few yrs ago it got infected and was swelled up the size of a hotdog bun the dr told me. Said i would haft to go to a special dr to get pregant again and it was just a 50/50 chance that would work. I was just wanting to know if anyone has had they same thing done or know of anyone who has and got pregant. — wildbrat (posted on September 9, 2003)

I'm only 5wks PostOp so I'm not able to give you Post WLS info regarding
pregnancy. However I wanted to let you know that I too had a tube removed
after a ruptured Ectopic Pregnancy and was told the same. One year later
after dieting using diet pills, I got pregnant w/ my son who is now 5 yrs
old. I've not tried to get pregnant again yet but did ask my current GYN
who is a women's specialist and she did not feel that I'll have trouble
when I'm ready and suggested that I begin Prenatal vitamins 6mos prior to
making an attempt. I don't know how far along you are but I do hope that
you are planning to wait the 12-18 mos that they request before attempting
to get pregnant. I hate reading posts from people who obviously waited to
lose to get pregnant. A baby deserves to have the healthiest possible
beginning in a healthy body.

I had one of my tubes removed 10 years ago due to severe cysts and it being
twisted. Ouch. By the way, much worse than RNY post op pain. Anyway, the
first thing my surgeon told me was that when you have an ovary removed,
that the other takes over for it and it ends up dropping an egg every month
instead of every other month. I had already given birth to my son, and
haven't had anymore children so I didn't test his theory. Good luck!!!
