Question:
Do you ever have TOO much energy?

Not that I'm complaining, but over the past couple of weeks (I am 3 months post-op) I have noticed a marked increase in my energy level. In fact, I am almost hyper. I've lost 55 pounds so far, so I know that is a lot of it and for that I am grateful. But I have been so full of energy lately that I can't sleep at night. I toss and turn and just can't seem to settle down. Then by some miracle if I DO fall asleep, I wake up every hour or two. Is this normal??? If this happened to you, what did you do about it?    — MomBear2Cubs (posted on August 27, 2003)

I am having the same problem. I am 4 months out, and down 70 pounds. My doctor put me on an anti-anxiety med becaause I was always wired up. It really has helped.

You don't know how lucky you are. I'm two years post op and still feel as if I've been run over by a truck. Where is all this energy people say they have? I had more pre op at 319 than at 164.

When I eat high protein I find I need less sleep. Don't know why, LOL, but I really do! Try going to bed a little later than normal. I used to pass out at 9:30 or 10:00. Now I am almost never in bed before 12:30 or so. I love it because now I have extra hours after the kiddo is in bed!

Yeah, in my mouth. Because I am so happy and talkative I am a motor mouth, especially when it comes to talking aobut weight loss surgery. I do have more energy related to my body but I would not say it's too much.

I became hyperthyroid post op . I had the symptoms you mention (but I had a throid problem to begin with) I had to be checked with every 20lb weight los to make sure my meds were OK. Aside from that, my normal energy level is pretty extreme compaired to what it was. I must walk it off every day in addition to my regular activities. But I sleep very well I just don't need as much as I used to.

I dream of having this problem. I've heard so many people talk about the extra energy but I have little at 3 months post op. I still have hopes that mine will increase in time.
