Question:
Has anyone had to find old surgery records inTulsa done at Doctors hosp?
HELP! Please, I had the old fashion stomach stapling done at Doctors hosp in Tulsa Ok. in the early 80's, since then the hospital went down and under. Has anyone had to find their old records?? If so how did you locate them and where?? The doctor that did the surgery Died several years ago, it was Dr Story, of Sand Springs, Ok. I'm sure all his medical records are long since gone as most purge their records after 7 yrs of no contact. so the Hospital is my best bet but I can't seem to find them. Any one have this answer??? — LS F. (posted on August 16, 2003)

Just curious...why do you need them? (insurance, surgeon, curiousity?) I
have had trouble locating records in the past and it can be very
frustrating. I don't think this is something that is vital to your having a
revision. Most surgeons know that old records are hard to come by. Shelley

I cannot be positive, but I believe that the AMA for the State of Oklahoma
will be able to tell you where those records are and how to obtain them.
It was my understanding that when a doctor quit practicing or a hospital
closed that the respective state medical assocition took charge of those
records. This may at least get you started. Be sure to let us know if it
helps.
