Question:
I would like to hear from anyone who had a breast reduction
who under went a breast reduction . I would like to hear both good and bad. I am scheduled for the 18th of Sep. Also how much time did you need for recovery from work? How much pain? Are you sorry? Are you pleased? Im going form a 50DD to about a 36C. — Schatzie1 (posted on August 14, 2003)

I had one about 7 years ago. i started out at a 56II. After the reduction i
was about a 48c. Since my wls i'm now a 34c. It was honestly the most
painful thing i've ever had done. i just had abdominoplasty and my arms
done and was so afraid of the pain because of the reduction, but this is
painfree. everybody is different though. some people say it is painless. i
had 10 pounds of boobs removed, so that may be why it was worse for
me...good luck..phyllis

I had a reduction three years ago. What a blessing. I
took two weeks off from work. The pain was moderate.
I didn't have or need a morphine pump. OK! the down
side is my breast looked funny (like square)for about a
year. Today I have the cutest, perkiest size b cup
breasts. Going braless for the first time in forty years
is WONDERFULL. Good luck and enjoy your new body.

Hi Rose...I had my reduction this past Jan. I went from a 44dd to a 36C. At
that time i was 165 pounds. I'm now 123 pounds and a size 34A to a small B.
So make sure you are pretty much finished with all the weight loss. Don't
get me wrong they are still are pretty and perky just smaller because i
lost more weight. All in all i'm happy...The pain...there was very very
little pain.Had my surgery on a thursday and was back at work on Monday.
Good luck. Sarah

I had a breast reduction done in July 2001, when I was 22 years old. I am
not sure what size I was before, but I got 6 pounds removed (3 from each
side) and I now wear a 38 D or DD (depends on the make). I was off work
for 4 weeks. I could have went back earlier, but where I worked at the
time did not have "light duty."<p>
The pain was not unbearable. The vehicle ride home almost killed me,
though!! The soreness was terrible, and I HATED not being able to sleep on
my tummy! Also, I couldn't lift my arms up or bend down enough to shower
myself, so my mom had to shower me and wash my hair! (It wasn't too bad,
mom's an RN, so she's used to doing stuff like that!) She even shaved my
legs for me!<p>
Every day I thank God that I had it done. They look SO good, and are quite
perky! (I left mine kind of large, incase I lost weight one
day!)<p>
Before the surgery, my bra straps cut into my shoulders unbelievably, and
now, I can't keep my straps on my shoulder! That is my only complaint
now!!!! <p>
(**I would recommend putting Vitamin E oil on the incisions. It doesn't
burn, and you can't hardly even tell that I have had anything done to my
puppies!!!)

I had my BR almost three years ago. It was the best thing I have ever
done. I was in and home 6 hours later. I never had to take a pain med.
It was the easiest surgery. It feels like you have the tightest, most
restrictive bra on but not a lot of pain. I took 4 or 5 days off of work.
I went from a 44 (hell, I don't know EEE, each one was as big as my head).
It is a decision I will never regret.

I had my reduction done in 1992 when I was 21 years old and ten years
before my DS. I went from a 42G to a 38C. It took about a year for
everything to "normalize" and by that time I was around a 38C/D,
depending on the brand. Over the years as I gained more weight, I went
back up to a 42DD. Now, a year and a half after losing 126lbs from my DS,
I'm down to a 34D. Actually, they're 34C, but with all the extra skin,
D-cup just feels better in most brands. Will I do another breast surgery?
An enhancement or lift, maybe? Don't know. Not in any big hurry for more
surgery.
As far as pain and recovery went, it was a whole lot worse than the pain
and recovery involved in my DS, but my DS was laparoscopic so maybe that's
apples/oranges. It was outpatient surgery and I was home that night, but
my entire torso was sore from my belly button to my neck. It hurt to
twist, sit up, lie down, raise my arms or bend over. This went on for
about a week. After that, it was easier, but I was still sore. I was
deathly terrified of someone running into me, though! I took two weeks off
from work, but could have gone back after that first week since it was a
desk job.
I made two mistakes with that surgery. The first was lying down in a
waterbed after I got home. When you can't twist, bend or use your arms,
getting out of a waterbed is close to impossible! ;) My mother helped me
into it, but she was gone when I woke up and had to use the bathroom. I
think it took me a half hour to roll out of bed and onto all fours on the
floor and then crawl to the bathroom. Mistake number two was the vicodin.
I've since learned that use of opiate-based pain killers (vicodin,
percodan, tylenol w/ codeine, oxycodone, etc.) for even just a few days can
cause constipation. This would normally be a minor inconvenience, but when
the muscles in your torso have been assaulted...well, what muscles do you
think you use to battle constipation??? Ow. Ow ow ow...OW!
I don't regret having had them done over ten years ago. Even now, after
I've gained and lost over 100lbs and have sagging breasts, I don't regret
it. The scarring was bad because I get keloids, but I'd rather have the
scars than the boobs. Good luck!

My daughter had it done 3 years ago at 16 years old. She was a 44EEE. She
had 6 pounds removed from each one and has never regretted a day of it!!!
She can sleep on her back and stomach now and does not have the backache
she used to have. Heck her scars have even gone with the use of Mederma.
Good Luck!!!

I had my br done may 1, so it's still pretty fresh in my memory! went from
about 44h to 44d, and 1 1/2 lbs off each. it was a huge difference. i was
not in pain at all, maybe a little soreness, but they are very generous
with the meds, i didn't like morphine or demerol, both made me throw up.
my mistake was in being too confident and not taking it easy, laying flat
like my doc said to, so i didn't heal as quickly. about 6 weeks instead of
2 or 3. already, you cant see the scars around the nipples at all, and the
under breast ones are fading quickly. my doc used tapes instead of
stitches or staples. i also never wore a bra or anything, just bandages.
1st time braless in 43 years, and what a great feeling! good luck, you'll
love it! darci
