Question:
What causes pain in the mid-left side?
I am 5 months post-op LAP/RNY and every once in a while, I will get a sharp, debilitating pain in my left side - above the hip but below the ribs. It has happened after eating and during exercise. It is so sharp and severe that I can't stand upright. I have found that sitting and bending over help alleviate the pain. It seems to last 30 minutes or so, then passes. Any ideas? — Carly B. I'm going to answer your question with a question.... How regular are you?
I get that pain also mine is terrible I canly sit on the toilet and bend
forward and cry. I get it from being backed up. Thats when I get it, Dont
take anyones word for it though unless it is a Dr you trust. Good Luck!
Love,
Nicole

Sometimes I don't go for a week and take a fast acting suppository to get
things going. I had wondered if perhaps it was blockage. But it seems a
little high for that. I don't know - if it happened more often I'd be in
the surgeons office immediately - but it is rare enough that I convince
myself it will never happen again. Then it does.

Have you been checked for possible kidney stones? The area you are
describing and the pain involved seem just like the problems I was having
this past week due to kidney stones. Just a thought...
