I would like to carry a MEDICAL CARD with me in case of an
emergency to identify myself as a gastric bypass patient — Alice W. (posted on August 10, 2003)

Just as important is carrying a personal identification card with your PCP
and surgeon's name on it. I figure the big scar might make them think
twice.

I think it's a good idea...but I would also use the added security of
wearing an ID bracelet. I wear one with info about being a GB patient and
not to insert any tubes without endoscopy. I think the bracelet may be a
better idea because you don't always have your purse or wallet ON you,
where I would imagine your medical card would be kept. But the bracelet is
ON the body. Mine is sterling silver and it never comes off. Just a
thought. Hugs, Joy
