being morbidly obese makes our bones denser - the longer one is morbidly
obese, the heavier the bones become. Hence, you will weigh more than you
look like you do and have a smaller body than you would
"normally" have at that same weight. Someone who'd never been
morbidly obese at the weight would look heavier. By the way, CONGRATS!

Debra, I know what you mean. When I was 16 I weighed around 200lbs and wore
a size 18 I am three months post op and down to about 260 and am wearing a
18. Makes no since to me, but I am not complaining..

The difference in clothes sizes is due to the manufacturers trying to make
us feel "thin" so we'll buy their clothes. I think Marilyn
Monroe wore a size 14, which in today's sizes, would be a 6-8. Congrats on
the loss!

260 and wearing an 18, I am 167 and wearing a 16. Obviousely size is not a
matter of weight, but a matter of build.

Sizes are crazy. I am 10 months post op down 111 since surgery weighing in
at 134 lbs 5' 3.75" and just now getting into a size 10. I can't
remember the exact size I wore at 192 but it was probably a 18. Strange :)

I noticed the same thing when looking at profiles and journals. When I
weighed 150 way back when, I was lucky to fit into a 14; but seems as
though most women my height at 150 are now wearing a 10. I was told it was
because sizes were restructured down in the 1990's to reflect the
"real" female body. Makes sense to me.

Hi there, Debra! I guess you and everyone else here are very fortunate. I
am 174 lbs. and I am still in an 18, the last time I was in this size I was
195 lbs.! For some reason, this tummy does NOT want to leave me, despite
all the work I try to do on it. :-O I wish I could get to a size 12 !!
Vi. open RNY 9/23/02 down 149 lbs.
