Question:
This is not a question but an FYI, for those of you that like the Detour bars.

I found detour bars at walmart that are only 1.4 oz which is about half the size of the original ones. They have 160 cal, 13g carbs, 6g sugar, and 15g protein. They cost $1.23 per bar, oh yeah and they also have the u-turn bars as well. Just thought I would share this, since this is the first I have seen them.    — SINDI W. (posted on July 20, 2003)

Thanks. I currently pay $3 for one and cut it in half. The smaller ones would be much better.

Where at in Walmart are you finding these things? I've checked the health aisle (where the vitamins are) and find every other bar under the sun, but not those or the U-turn bars. I've also checked the candy aise (why not lol) and the snack aisle. Am I missing it somewhere???

The detour bars- what benefit are they? I do not eat them so I have no idea. They seem full of sugar, carbs and calories. I see the protein in pretty good-but again the carbs is what bothers me. Are they good and are the used just for the convience?

Jan, I think the "benefit" just comes from the protein, for those who can't tolerate any other protein bars or drinks. I agree, they have way too many calories, carbs and sugar for me. BUT, they do taste like a candy bar, so if I ever were to have a terrible craving for candy, I guess that would be better than anything else I could grab. I'm very lucky that I don't really have a sweet tooth, though.

Like Kathy, I'll have a Detour bar when I want candy. They are pretty close in taste to a Snicker bar. They are definitely one of the better higher protein bars. I keep one in my desk drawer at work. I maybe have one a week, but I'm sure there are others that have them more often! I have found the smaller bars at Target stores and our newly remodeled and expanded Kroger store also has them.

I'm with Ruth I have looked every where at our Wal-Mart and found everything BUT Detour bars. Maybe not all Wal-Mart stores carry them?

They also have the small size at Trader Joe's. These are absolutely wonderful for me, I eat a big one everyday as my breakfast!

Best place to buy Detour Bars is online at www.dpsnutrition.com There is also the 'U-Turn' bar which is more like a Milky Way for those who aren't big on nuts or are allergic. If you buy 3 boxes at a time the price is even better. My boss at work is a Body Builder and he turned all of us on to them. Hope this helps. Oh, if you live in warm weather like we do, just make sure you put them in the fridge or freezer in case they melted a bit in transit!! Kiki ;)~
