Question:
Anyone have or know someone that has a bowflex machine?

I am interested in purchasing an at home weight machine for toning. One of those that you can work out all the muscle groups. I purchased a Lifecycle Recumbent bike for my aerobic exercise and LOVE it. Very comfortable. Now I am down a 113 pounds (still have a ways to go) and want to start weight resistance as well to help firm up my body and build muscle! Anyone with experience with the Bowflex or can you recommend another product? Thanks so much!!    — Debbie M. (posted on July 13, 2003)

You should try the Crossbow, by Joe Weider. It costs about half of the price of the Bowflex and it allows you greater range of motion in your workouts. I bought mine at Sears. Good Luck.

My hubby and I bought a Bowflex (mid-range price) 1-1/2 years ago. It really works well when you use it 3-4 times a week. They send you a book with it that has lots of good suggested workouts, and shows you various workouts for the muscles groups you most want to work on. I had been going to Curves prior to buying the Bowflex, and I can tell you I lost more inches in 8 weeks of using the Bowflex than I had lost in 8 months at Curves. I think it's a great home product, very well-made, fairly easy to put together. I think you would enjoy it for your weight training.

We considered the Bowflex when shopping for a weight machine, and also looked at the Crossbow. In the end though we ended up buying a Parabody CM3 (made by Life Fitness), which is a cable system machine with real weigts vs. plastic rods. In the end we felt it was a far more substantial machine (that also took up less space) and were able to get it for $999 vs. the $1600 we would have paid to get all of the 'add ons' to make the Bowflex a complete workout station. I would suggest going "shopping" and actually trying each machine in the store and see how you feel about how each machine works. In the end the end though, the best machine for you is going to be one that you like to (and do) use!
