Question:
I had a lap rny 7 months ago and I have virtually no appetite at all. When I do eat
after a couple of bites of whatever I'm eating, I feel nauseated and uncomfortable. This feeling passes within 10 minutes but I always stop eating at that point. There are also times when I'm fine when eating the same exact food 2 dys later. I always chew carefully although NO food tastes good anymore. My staple items that seem to cause the least uneasiness are Wendy's chili, broccoli & cheese soup and chicken. Anyone else have their taste buds backfire on them? And will food ever taste "normal" to me again? Elizabeth lap rny 12-13-02 268/165 — E M. (posted on July 13, 2003)

Hey I loved it never being hungry. Soon you will get your appetite back.:(

You shouldn't be feeling nausea after eating just a few bites unless you
are eating too fast, too much, or the food is too heavy/greasy. The lack
of appetite is not uncommon, even at your stage. Most of us get our
appetites back by 7 months or so, but others have to wait a year or more to
get there. I wouldn't worry about it..in fact, most of us further out,
would love to go back to the days of not feeling hungry again! Even when
you do get your hunger back, some foods still won't taste the same anymore,
and some foods may continue to disagree with you-its different for all of
us, but we all experience some of this. For me, I can't eat Chinese
,otherwise I feel bloated and ill. Loved it pre-op, and I know many
post-ops are just like me when it comes to Chinese-still can't figure out
what it is in Chinese- MSG? Soy sauce?
