Question:
When did you lose most of your weight?

I'd like to know when some of you have lost the majority of your weight? 1 month, 6 months?? I'm 7 weeks out and down 40lb ( I"m not complaining at all I'm thrilled) The last 2 weeks have been slow.. only about 3 lbs.. Is this normal? ( I swore I wasn't going to ask this.. lol) I bought the Ketos sticks, and I am definatly in ketosis. High level. Thank you in advance.    — KellyJeanB (posted on July 8, 2003)

I think that slow loss is normal, I know I hit a plateau around that point... I upped my water and really watched what I was eating, and managed to squeeze in another walk a day..... your body is still getting used to this new lifestyle and isn't going to part with your fat with out a fight... You are doing great... 4/9/03 lap rn 311/249/-62

There are alot of factors that come into play when you talk about how much weight you are going to lose. Beginning weight, age, excercise, how close you follw your diet regimine, etc... I myself started at 527 and now 11 weeks post op I am down 101 lbs. The heavier you are the more you are going to lose right away. I drink tons of water and get all 109g of my protein in everyday but havent really started on a real strict excercise program(walking 2x a week right now and swimming once a week). I know I am just rambling now so I will wish you good luck and a good day. --TJ Open RNY 4/16/03 527/426/?

In answer to the first part of your question. Most people lose their greatest weight in the first six months. This is called the honeymoon period. After that, it tends to slow down a bit for the next few months to a year. You will lose up to about 18-24 months. This is called your window of opportunity. This is when we have to work a little harder but we still lose. I started off slow also but about the fourth month my weight loss picked up so don't worry, yours will too. You are doing great!!!!1

Kelly, I am 10 1/2 mos post op, I lost 22lbs in my first 8 days and 100lbs in 7 mos, I have only lost 15 lbs in the 3-4 mos since. It does slow down MAJORLY, so, take advantage of those first 6 mos, I sure wish I had worked a little harder, I maybe at goal now. Heather (Open RNY 8/15/02 305/190/150)

I am 7 1/2 week out and I have loss a total of 58lbs. Make sure you eat what you are suppose to be eating and Drink the right amount of liquids. And make sure you exercise. Remember this is only a tool to help you loose that weight you still must help out yourself....!

I lost the majority (144 pounds) in the first 8 months and have only lost 20 in the last 3 1/2 months. I mean, I'm happy it's still going down, but I have to really watch what I eat now more than ever! I hear a lot of people stall a bit around their second month, but I don't know if I did because I didn't weigh at ALL the first 3 months.

i'm glad someone else thinks about this!! i am 9 weeks out and down 37lbs (whoo hoo). i am now at the point where i only weigh myself 1x a day rather than 3x. i know that isn't good, but just can't help myself. my surgeon told me 80% of excess weight would be lost in the 1st year.
