Question:
Is there a such thing as liquid protein addictive

I think I read here once that there are alternative to powdered protein in a liquid form. Is this so and where can it be found?    — tigerpaws (posted on July 7, 2003)

There is also a supplement called ProteinX or Proteinex, something like that. It's liquid protein. I haven't used it but it's my understanding it's more like a vitamin supplement than a meal supplement. Anyone have more information on this?

I use a liquid protein called Amino Infusion that I get from vitalady.com. She has it in 3 flavors. I like the grape and the raspberry. Kinda sweet, but quick and painless.

In no way do I mean to be offensive but a previous poster stated that Boost, Ensure, Slimfast, etc. were liquid proteins. While I guess technically they are - these products are VERY inappropriate for WLS patients. They contain far too many calories and too little protein to be effective. My guess is that you're asking if there's a liquid that you can take in more of a "dose" form than having to drink a shake. If that's the case then the vitalady's product and proteinex are the only two I know of. Best wishes to you!

I use Proteinex, a liquid protein food supplement, not vitamin supplement. It has 15 gms of predigested protein per 2 tbls (30cc). That way it is easily absorbed. I mix it in 4 oz of OJ and use that as my breakfast. I also sometimes supplement later in the day if my protein intake is low. For more info on Proteinex got to the pharmaceutical web site - http://www.llorenspharm.com/proteinex.htm Hope this helps.

Try some of these, Diet Balanced(with soy protein) 10g protein, Kashi GOLEAN(with soy protein)-15g protein, PowerDream (with soy protein)-10g protein, Myloplex-20g protein, Weider Pure Pro Shake-35g protein, EAS Advant Edge HP-whey protein-20g protein and WISH Protein Plus-24g protein. WISH Protein Plus also has all the vitamins in it that a WLS patient needs in a day, when you have two servings. The other protein drinks that I mentioned earlier are ok for the early on WLS patient, you of course cannot go overboard with them because there is sugar in them- Slim Fast banana cream has 35 g of sugar in 11 oz and Boost chocolate mocha has 23g of sugar in 8 oz. BUT-as a 7wk post op I am only supposed to use them as a snack and then I only drink 4 oz of it, I do not dump on them. They are not necessarily inappropriate for ALL patients if their doctor has given them guidelines as how to use them in their post op diet. Hopefully this did not cause too much confusion.

Try Proteinex. They have their own web site. You can find it at WalGreens, WalMart and some other grocery/pharmacy type stores. It tastes like really bad cough syrup if you drink it straight but you only need to do teaspoons a day to get enough protein in - it's pre-digested. I mix it in sugar free Tang and in jello (which I drink warm right after mixing and I can't taste it at all. Kinda pricey but worth it. Try their website for other stores. Ask for a freee sample. Good Luck!
