Question:
When did you resume your sex life?
Sorry to be so personal, but I was curious as to when most people resumed their sexual relationships? — tigerpaws (posted on June 20, 2003)

This question has been asked before, and I think the best answer was
"We waited until I got home from the hospital!" Seriously, it
really depends on how you feel. If you feel up to it and can find a
comfortable position - go for it!

WHAT!? We have to give up sex for a while!? Forget it! Call off the
surgery! No way am I giving up sex even for a few weeks or months! I can't
handle it just to loose the weight!
Just Kidding! If I have to I think it will be worth it. Hope this gave you
a giggle even for a moment. My thoughts are with you as you go thru your
journey. Big hug and a warm fuzzy for you.

I was suppose to wait three weeks. Without kissing and telling, I can
share that it is possible to have sexual fun in a hospital bed. They told
me I needed exercise right away. I was just obeying. (and no we did not
press on my stomache at all)

I waited 2 days after I got home from the Hospital, but we were very
careful about it and stayed clear of my stomach. It actually hurt to even
be bounced around b/c I have a waterbed, so after that we waited for about
another week. Good luck and enjoy:o)

I am folowing my dr's guidelines on this one - 3 weeks or until you feel it
is safe.
Since my incision got infected nd I am not willimg to risk opening it up
any more, I still haven't had sex and I am 4 1/2 weeks out. That doesn't
mean we haven't had fun in other ways.

My doctor told me that if I was interested enough to try, then to go for
it. Just be easy! You will discover that sex becomes SO much fun that you
tend to get over-rambunchious, so... be aware and don't go too fast, too
soon. Gahh, that sounded awful, but I hope you know what I mean! :~) DO
have fun!!

Ahh as a word of warning some women get VERY fertile after WLS. Protection
from unplanned pregnancy is a good idea. We get I am pregnant at X time out
all the time from women who couldnt have kids. You have been warned.

It was like 10 days later and I was open RNY... I was quite drugged up and
I guess that affected me, because I am usually quite reserved... I am 11
months post op and 4 months pregnant, so please be careful! You will be
fertile...

Well, we waited about two days, we were very careful and took it very slow
and it did not hurt at all. My Dr did not say a time period that we should
wait. Just know you do need to watch out you are very very fertile after
the surgery and need to be careful. Have Fun and good luck. Teena

Bob is right...after having unprotected sex with my husband for over 3.5
years, I finally got the unexpected news at 6 months out of surgery.

We waited 2 weeks... The only reason we waited that long, we stayed with my
mom-in-law for the first 10 days after I was discharged. We would have been
at it a lot sooner if not for that....

I am almost 4 weeks out of open RNY. My husband and I actually tried about
a week ago. I just didn't feel "up" to it. I hope this
disinterest goes away. Before surgery I was always "up" for it. I
haven't really had any problems post op. My scar is a little sore, but it
is mentally that I just don't feel ready. My husband and I both hope this
will change soon.
