Question:
Suddenly I am getting a rash every time I am out in the sun
I am 9 weeks post op and have never had this happen before. Not taking any new meds. — Gail O. (posted on June 16, 2003)

I am 10 days pre-op and that happens to me. Did you used to tan well? I
have always had light skin that burned. Now I get hives that remind me to
get out of the sun before I get a sunburn. I miss being able to get a
little color. :(

Check with a dermatologist. I started getting what I thought were pimples
on my face from rapid weight loss. When the normal over the counter meds
would not clear it up I saw a doctor and I don't have acne I have rosacea.
Sun exposure can also cause rashes with rosacea.
Good luck

I'm 8 months post-op & experiencing the same thing. My surgeon said
it's a reaction from the antibiotics, brought on by exposure to the sun.
He said it (the reaction- not the rash) could last for up to a year &
gave me a prescription cream. His advice: use sunscreen & avoid the
sun. I'll be going for the "pasty white" look this season...and
next.
