Question:
Has anyone had a tummytuck at the same time as RNY
I would love to hear from anyone that has had an initial tummy tuck with their RNY. Especially if anyone has had success in getting Dr. Cook or another surgeon from Ohio State University Hospital to perform this procedure. -- — Trin2rilax Cheryl McCoy (posted on June 11, 2003)

Thats very rare anywhere. Because they are both pretty major surgeries, it
would make recovery harder, and most important when you start loosing you
will likely need another tummy tuck. I think a few have done it but most
surgeons discourage it by reports here.

I had the tummy tuck done same day as RNY. I was 304 lbs date of surgery.
My doctor only did a handful of patients and is no longer doing this. He
warned me before hand that I'd probably need another tuck after losing all
my weight. I was the last patient he did tt on with rny. Problem is many
get incisions get infected because of obesity and many incisions come open.
I don't regret having it because it was instant flat tummy. After losing
150 lbs+ I need removal of excess skin from upper abdomen and hips, but
lower tummy is flat. It was very tough to recover from both surgeries at
the same time.

I had a panniculectomy with my surgery. Dr. Fobi in the LA area does this
procedure. I have lost 150# with no need for an additional tummy tuck. The
scar is from hip to hip and it healed well. I'm glad I had it done that
way.

Hi, I agree with Bob, I never heard of any getting a tummy tuck while
having rny surgery, I would think that would be to complicated to do cuz
all the extra skin some people have after loosing weight. I know that my
surgeon refuses to
refer any of his patients to have any type of plastic surgery done until
they are aleast 12-18 mths. post-op. cuz usually by then thye are done with
loosing most of their weight, and PS is considered a major surgery too now
these days!! Good Luck!!

I had a abdominoplasty with my RNY and I would do it again in a heart beat.
My surgeons son assists him who is a plastic surgeon so i had the best of
both worlds. My stomach is pretty much flat even after losing 115 lbs. I
will not need another surgery for skin. It was instant flatness but it was
very painful and the drains are bothersome for 2 weeks but it was worth all
the pain. I am 10 months out and ready to go for the summer. Now my hips
are a different story but I can live with them. 272/157
