Question:
I had my TT/hernia repair done last fri....
How long does the swelling last? I feel like I walk hunched over and its killing my back. Can I put my regular jeans on since my belly is swelled or will that hurt the work done on the stomach? Should I try to walk straight or will that effect the healing in my stomach area? Also anybody have any advice on post op TT and their personal results? Thanks! — Elizabeth C. I had forgetten about walking around hunched over, but your question sure
brought back the memories! Don't try to stand straight up, it will pull on
your incision. Just slowly ease yourself into an upright position. The
swelling lasted at least a week and a half for me. After the RNY (open), I
thought hernia repair and TT would be no big deal but it sure did kick my
butt! I was pretty worthless for about 2 weeks. Hang in there! Brenda 2
yrs. post op down 140 pounds and lovin it!

I had my hernia repair and panniculectomy done February 4. I was off work
two weeks but was walking pretty straight by the time I went back. I was
swollen some for at least 6 weeks - I was so dissappointed because I wanted
to get smaller clothes and had to wait. But, man was it worth the wait.

I am scheduled for my tummy tuck in 7 weeks, my surgeon send all sorts of
instructions as to what I can expect. You will not be able to stand
straight for up to two weeks,,,dont force it, you will cause damage. Dont
wear any tight clothing at all while you are still swollen, anything tight
could hamper the circulation to the surgical sight causing complications.
Keep your clothing loose until the swelling goes down.
Good luck!
