I have been using Real Meals since I was about three weeks post op. I am
now 12 months post op. I am a true believer that protein makes a
difference. I hit goal in five months, at 12 months I am about 25 pounds
below goal. My goal size had been a 16, I wear a size 4. I never had any
hair loss and I think I am pretty much out of the woods for it now. I also
like that you get the 60 grams of protein plus over 40 vitamins and it has
the peptides so it is one of the few shakes that is absorbed 100%
immediately. My favorite shakes with it are the strawberry and the cookies
and cream. Sometimes I add it to oatmeal too if I don't feel like a shake.
There is a lot of information on my profile and links to do research about
protein post op. Also, the www.protein-solution.com website has a list of
recipes and a FAQ page. The same company also makes a bariatric vitamin
now. It is chewable and tastes good and it is only $9 for a months supply.

I've used Real Meals since I first came home from the hospital. I start
every day with a vanilla shake flavored with a banana. I use a third of a
packet (1/4 c) at a time and add 1 serving of powdered milk to bring up the
protein levels, so each shake worth about 30 grams of protein. Have tried
lots of other recipes (as posted on their website) but have kind of stuck
w/the banana recipe. Sounds like you're doing really well -
congratulations on your loss! Kim

Hi Real Meals fans. I used to do the real meals, but have found that my
tastes recently changed and I no longer care for them. I've got pretty
much a whole case sitting around that I'd be happy to ship to someone for
the cost of shipping plus maybe a small 'donation' to my 'protein fund'!
Let me know if you are interested. BTW- they are chocolate.

I started Real Meals around 4 months out and it made a world of difference.
Weight flew off me. It was the ONLY protein drink that tasted good to me.
Now for some unknown reason, any and all protein supps make me VERY ill.
Wish I knew why. ~Sidney~ Open RNY 10-23-02 down 90+

I love the convenience of Real Meals.... When I have to be at work really
early or it gets too late for dinner, a quick shake and I'm all set......
The shakes are filling to me and not only do I feel satisfied, I know they
are nutritionally sound. Can't wait till my next case-gonna try the
chocolate!

I have been doing at least one shake a day, and recently two a day, since I
started full liquids at one week post op. I have lost very steadily and
never had a plateau!!! I had surgery 1/15/03 and I have lost 76 pounds! I
actually lost 11 pounds before surgery using them too! So the grand total
is now 87 pounds in 5 months!!!!! I have energy and I actually like them. I
have gotten creative over time. I add chocolate sugar free Quick to my
chocolate shakes along with an ice cube in the blender and get a chocolate
shake!!! And I make a strawberry smoothy with the vanilla and a few berries
in the food processor! I am not sure if it is the Real Meals or luck but
the bod seems to be shaping up pretty well even with the big weight loss. I
started out with 130 pounds to lose and have only 43 to go!! YEEHAW!!!

I have had 1/2 - 1 Real Meals packets a day since my surgery in Feb/03 and
have not experienced any hair loss at all. The chocolate is not too sweet
and I really like not having to worry about if I am getting enough protien
on my own. I trust what Linda A says below about the peptides. So many of
the protein drinks do not have them. Seems to me like a waste of time to
drink the ones that may not be absorbed right away.

I haven't tried them but went to the website and was about to order a choc.
and a vanilla sample for $5.98 but wasn't about to pay $5 to ship them. Can
I buy one of each cheaper off anyone on this sight? Debbie,

I was quite impressed with Real Meals. The weight started melting off when
I used it. Now, the truth is, you HAVE to get past that sweet flavor that
some talk about. For that reason and for some people, it's intolerable. It
depends, too on how you are preparing it. Another one to try is...well,
will not go into that here.
