Question:
Weight loss after 9 months
Hi Everyone: I am almost 9 months postop lap rny. I have lost almost 80 pounds and am extremely excited. My weight loss has been extremely slow, but those pounds off add up. My weight is sticking between 151 and 154. Is it truly possible for me to lose these last 30 pounds? My appetite has returned quite a bit since I passed the six month mark, and I am able to eat more. Has anyone 5'4" managed to get to 125 or less? Please let me know what you are eating, and how long it took you to reach that weight. Thanks guys. Love you all. — Grace H. (posted on May 16, 2003)

I had lost about 85 lbs. by my 9 month mark, lost extremely slow compared
to some others, but pleased with my loss. It took me another 9 months to
lose 20 lbs.! But it did come off. I thought I was done, it was coming
off so slowly. But those couple of lbs. a month start adding up. I am 18
months post op and still losing slowly.

I think it's possible. I'm only a year out, so I don't know for a fact how
long I could lose weight. But I know the window of opportunity is typically
18 months. I got to my goal of 130 (I'm 5'2") and am still losing
weight but very slowly. And 130 is the middle to higher end of the normal
range for weight for my height, but I am a size 5/6 and recently started
wearing more 3/4's and even some Xsmalls! So being shorter can help us! :-)
I honestly never thought I'd get this low, so I'm so happy. I know I'm a
little shorter than you, but I think you could get to your goal. And even
if you only lose 10 or 20 more lbs. you'll look great! As you have less to
lose, a 10lb. loss looks like a big difference- as opposed to when we were
200 plus and 10lbs. usually meant nothing, know what I mean? I think you
can do it- goodluck to you!

I am only 4'10 and my weight this morning was 125lbs. I have lost 105lbs
since surgery. Weight loss has slowed down quite a bit but I do think its
possible for me to get to my goal weight of 110. Thanks
