Question:
Any suggestions on losing 20 lbs in 2 months at 7 months post-op
I'm 6 mnts post-op and have only lost 5 lbs since the end of January!! I've started exercising more but I still don't get in enough water and can't seem to fix that. Had surgery Oct 8th last year. Lost 65lbs by January and have not done much of anything since then. Want to lose 40 more at least and am scared to death I'm not going to do it! I get in plenty of protein. My son is getting married in July and I want to lose 20lbs between now and then. I'm walking 1 1/2 to 2 miles a day 6 days a week on my treadmill. I was a 'lightweight' to begin with and I'm 56 years old so have some 'stuff' not in my favor. Have had hysterectomy, blah, blah, blah. Any suggestions from you guys would be greatly appreciated. My discouragement level is at an all time low. Sorry this is so long.....LAP RNY 262 then 195 now — Sharon B. (posted on May 15, 2003)

Maybe you could increase your protien and limit the carbs!?! I am doing
that right now and my weight has started moving down again. I was eating
alot of crackers and chips and junk like that and now im giving that up.
Your exercise sounds good :o) Good luck!

Sharon, similar situation here. I had surg. on 9/26/02 and lost about 70
lbs. by mid-January. Since that time, I've lost another 10 lbs. but that
was it for the past 4 months. However, I'm keeping written track of my
daily stats. such as the amounts of protein, water, and veg & fruit
consumed and the scale is finally starting to move again. I have one
protein shake a day to get to 60 grams total daily protein intake and I
really believe that's made the difference. I'm fastidious about daily
vitamins but could be alot better with the exercise. I started @ 267 and
am down to 182.

Seems you've left the honeymoon stage in which it's easiest to lose. I
read your profile and my questions are: Are you still eating whatever you
want only in smaller quantities? How is it that after all this time you
still aren't getting your fluids in in a sufficient quantity? No, I'm not
bashing you, just don't understand. You're far enough out that you should
be doing fairly well on both proteins and fluids. If you can't stand
water, have you tried flavored water? Decaf iced tea? My best suggestion
for you is to go back to the basics of protein and fluids. If you eat good
foods (avoiding those simple starchy carbs largly) AND drink enough fluid
to flush the crud from your system you should start to lose again. I doubt
your going to knock off 20 pounds in 2 months, but it's possible,
especially if you've been off the program. Going back to basics make shock
your system into letting go of some of the weight. But please DRINK more
:>) And congrats on gaining a new Daughter-in-law!!!
