Question:
Insurance Exclusions - Cigna

I have Cigna HMO and was looking through my plan benefits booklet and it said that surgery for obesity was excluded! I have read on here that lots of people who have Cigna have gotten approval. What gives?    — Steve S. (posted on May 9, 2003)

Steve: I live in CA and have CIGNA HMO. My benefits booklet says it's excluded UNLESS MEDICALLY NECESSARY. I would call your group/network and verify.

I had no trouble at all i was approved right away. Now am in the process with working on geting reconstructive surgery approved. I really like cigna i have a case worker that gets everything apporved for me. Her name is cathy mercer. She in charge of geting surgery approved and geting authorization approved for me.
