Question:
Lap vs. Breast Reduction Pain
I had a breast reduction surgery 2 years ago. I had 6.5 pounds removed! Anyways, I remember more of a "burning soreness" in my chest. It almost reminded me of the type of pain from falling as a child and scraping the skin off your knee or hand (on a much lower scale, but the same kind of pain). A serious soreness to say the least. I am wanting to know, if anyone out there has had both a breast reduction and a Lap, which one hurt the most? Thanks.... — Hillary D. (posted on May 5, 2003)

Hello. I have had both. I had a breast reduction 4 years ago and it TOTALLY
SUCKED...the worst pain ever...way worse than childbirth and the lap
combined. Not to minimize the pain with the lap...the worst for me for the
lap rny was the upper left side pain where most of the work is done...BUT
NOTHING COMPARED TO THAT DARNED BREAST REDUCTION!!!

I did not have lap, I had Open DS, but I will say my breast reduction was
way worse then my open surgery! That breast reduction kept me out of work
for 6 weeks, my open DS? Only 3! Good luck!

I have had back surgery, c-section, ankle surgery twice, breast reduction
and Lap RNY. THE ABSOLUTE WORST was the breast reduction. By far. All of
the other surgeries were incisions to do the work INSIDE. The BR work is
all for the OUTSIDE, therefore very painful. The LAP was a walk in the
park for me, but we are all different. I only had a mild soreness, like I
had done too many sit-ups. I have seen where those that have never had
surgery compare the LAP to 'being hit by a Mac truck'. It is all relative.
