Question:
At 9 weeks out, is it possible to be able to eat 4 deviled eggs?

I took two hardboiled eggs and deviled them. I ate the first two over a period of 15-20 minutes, thought I was full and put them away for around 15-20 minutes. Then I felt hungry again (how?) and ate the other two. Should I call my surgeon? When I eat a scrambled egg, I can only eat about half. What gives?    — Jamie R. (posted on May 5, 2003)

This is what they mean by "grazing." It lets you eat amounts of food you wouldn't be able to eat in one sitting, especially if the food isn't particularly dense. Now that you've experienced it, you know how it works (which we all get reminded of from time to time). Follow the "pouch rules" and don't eat within thirty minutes of drinking (and vice versa ... or don't drink for an hour after eating, if you can, but I generally wait 30 minutes unless something's particularly dense or filling). So, when you're tempted to go back and graze on that second helping of whatever ... hang on until you've hit 30 minutes from the last time you ate, and then make yourself drink some water or other non-caffeinated, sugar-free beverage. Then, you gotta wait *another* 30 minutes before you eat again. That'll slow down any tendency to graze, big time, and will keep you from becoming a grazer by habit. Good luck!

I can eat the whites of 2 hardboiled eggs for a meal but not sure with the stuffing in them if I would still be able to eat all 4 pieces. My guess is I would but probably pay for it afterwards. I can eat 4 ounces and probably this comes close to 4 ounces. I'm 13 weeks PO. Unless they were made with lowfat mayo I would probably not venture into them. Maybe next time eat 1 as part of a meal with additional protein and maybe that will keep you satisfied longer.

Jamie, The problem is that you waited 15 or 20 minutes and then ate again. The first ones had had time to partially go out of the pouch. That is a very easy way to over eat and out eat the surgery. I don't think you are in trouble from this one time, but watch that - it's not a good idea at all. I don't know why you felt humgry - maybe head hunger because the deviled eggs tasted so good. Are you eating meats? They are denser and will keep you full longer.
