Question:
Has any long term postops have good success with the Atkins diet?
I was wondering if it would really work well since we bypass fat. I would like to jump start my weight loss again and I'm almost 16 months postop. — Candace F. (posted on May 4, 2003)

Candace, I do not have an answer for you but looking at your profile you
give me hope. Maybe that will make you feel better. You lost 5-6 lbs.
your first week using Atkins, that sounds terrific,in my eyes, esp. 16
months post op.. I am past the weight just melting off stage and 1-2 lbs.
a week is very depressing and frustrating with 50 lbs. to go. I sympathise
with you and when I get my hands on the Atkins maybe we both will be jump
started.

I have basically done Atkins since I had the surgery (6.5 months ago).
Only in the beginning I ate 0 carbs. I have never had a problem with fats.
Best of luck!

It worked for me. I am 2 years out. About 6 months ago my weight loss
basically stopped, gained a couple of pounds. Was about 30 lbs. from where
I wanted to be. So I tried Atkins and have lost 20 lbs. the last couple of
months. 10 lbs. to go!!
