Question:
Plateau Question
I had my surgery on Oct 2. 2002. To date I have lost ( getting calculator) 97 pounds. I have been stuck with no weight loss now going on almost 2 months. And yes my appetite was increased in a horrible way. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, when did you start losing again. And what did you do to kick start the weight loss. Thanks in advance — Schatzie1 (posted on April 26, 2003)

I'm 11 months out now and I did stop the large weight loss about 6 months.
Since then I have lost 3-4 a month. I stepped up the walking to jump start
the process , but It will not be"falling off" like the first 6
months. I'm sure your not done losing, it just wont be as drastic. You have
done real well- congrats

I'm in the same boat. I'm 5 1/2 mos, can eat about 8 oz of food (depending
on the density of the food of course) and am on a plateau. I've only lost
77 pounds as of this point...based on that last post, I wonder, how the
heck am I ever gonna lose the other 50?

Rose,
It happened to me too, was on a 3 month plateau, oh man it was terrible, I
decided I would first of all decrease my calories, then I drastically went
on the "NO CARB" thing for 8 whole days....... then went back to
normal range calories, It worked it just started my weight loss,. I didn't
change any of the exercises, , as I do mostly weight training and light
cardio.
Hope it helps.

I'm sure everyone is different but I started keeping an even tighter reign
on what I eat (I keep track of all of it on fitday) and try to keep my
calories within 1000-1200 (max) and I try to keep my protein about 55% of
that, maybe 45% at the lowest.. the rest carbs and fat.. with the fat
staying well under 30%. After that, I get a lot of water in... and I upped
my cardio exercise to running 6 times a week.. and now I'm doing weight
training at the gym about three times a week. I didn't want to do all this
exercise.. its hard work and time consuming but its paying off -- in many
ways including the fact that I do enjoy running and the weight trianing
now. It really jump started my weight loss and now I'm humming along again
about 2 pounds a week... that's perfect as far as I'm concerned. I also
work hard at getting a lot of water in each day.. and NOT leading a
sedentary life...
