Ivonne, I have surpassed my surgeon's goal for me but haven't reached my goal. According to him, I don't need to lose anymore - but we'll see. Anyway, I snack all the time BUT I limit my snacking to jerky, peanuts, peanut butter, mixed nuts, protein supplements and occasionally, fruit. I DO NOT eat chips, cookies, muffins, candy, etc. Everytime you go to put some of that stuff in your mouth, look at the nutritional information on it. How much good are you getting for your calories. With our limited capacity, it's important to get a nutritional bang for our food buck. Not only will those foods keep you from losing or make you gain, they will keep you from eating the nutritious, protein high foods you need. So, snack if you must, but make it healthy snacks - jerky, nuts, soy nuts, etc. Good luck to you.

I'm in total agreement here with Patty. I believe snacking can be dangerous. If you are truly hungry and need to have snacks, be sure they are healthy ones. Personally, I am not a snacker, but I WAS a HUGE portion eater. This surgery is perfect for me. I had my surgery last October 30, 02. (-134)

I do some snacks, but I do try to change what I grab for. Before it would have been cookies, candy, chips.... Now I make a protein shake, or have a yogurt with 1 Tbls. of Grape Nuts (mmmmmmm my favorite), veggies and dip, nuts and occaisionally I will make a sugar-free dessert and enjoy a piece. Funny thing is, now, I am satisfied with one piece and that's it, before I would have eaten it all. Use your imagination, you can still snack, just find NEW things to snack on. Hungry for something sweet/crunchy? Yogurt with nuts or grape nuts. Hungry for something salty/crunch? Grab some sunflower seeds (in the shell) and go for it - it would take you hours to eat 300 calories worth, and let's face it, your tounge would be raw by then. Just remember that snacking (in moderation) is not a bad thing as long as it is a healthy choice. Good luck!

I do snack on something almost every day BUT I don't eat a lot of snacks and I very few carbs every day. My diet consists of mostly protein. I will eat some ice cream or a bag of m&ms. I don't dump but I make sure not to abuse it.
