Question:
What is an Echo Stress Test?
I had my EKG and now I must have an ECHO Stress Test. All other tests were fine. Can this test cause your surgeon to deny giving you the surgery? — Debbie J. (posted on April 23, 2003)

I'm not sure what an "echo stress test" is but I had what is
called an echocardiogram which is simply an ultrasound of the heart. The
stress test is a totally different test which involves a treadmill and
possibly something called "cardiolite" injected in an IV in your
veins. After the cardiolite is injected a series of pictures are taken of
your heart to check for abnormalities. All of these tests are routine when
getting prepared for this surgery. I hope this helps.

Yup. Diane is right. That is exactly what a echo stress test is. I thought
I was going to have to have one but instead my cardiologist just decided to
do an echocardiogram, which is the ultrasound only. And as stated before
it's all protocol.-CS
