Question:
Why am I so tired & cranky?
Hi there. I am about 2 1/2 months post op & I am always crabby. I mean I have NO patience at times. When I'm not crabby I'm tired. I recently was diagnosed with PCOS & was put on BC pills. I figure the crabbiness can be related to the BC pills, but why so tired all of a sudden? Any imput would be greatly appriciated. Thank you. — Cindy D (posted on April 18, 2003)

Cindy - The fact that you have PCOS, AND that you are taking BC, AND that
you are losing so much weight would certainly explain a great deal of
hormonal craziness going on in your body. With all that going on feeling
cranky, impatient and tired doesn't sound strange to me at all. Are you
seeing an OB/GYN or endocrinologist? I would definitely talk to your doc
about this. Sometimes a post op depression can bring on crabbiness also.
If that is the case, maybe a mild anti-depressant would help. Your body is
going through a great deal of change right now. I hope you're feeling
better soon.......:)

I can't give any advice from experience, but I went for my consulation
yesterday and was told that post-op if we don't walk (exercise) and drink 2
liters water everyday, it is very possible to suffer from depression, bad
moods, and excessive sluggishness. We were advised to walk, at any pace, 2
miles EVERYDAY. I don't know if you're already doing this and still
experiencing these feelings and tiredness, if so, I would definitely seek a
professional opinion. If not, maybe try it and see if things improve. I
hope you get to feeling better.

You might not be getting enough protein. Not getting enough will make you
tired and crabby. Try increasing the amount you get and see if this helps.

I have also heard that if you are not getting enough B12 you can get tired
and depressed. I am pre-op still so this is just what I have heard. I
hope you start to feel better soon!
