Question:
Losing then regaining?

I was just curious if anyone else has the problem of losing a few pounds then regaining it like the next day..I will lose 1-2 pounds then gain it back a few days later..why does this happen?    — christine S. (posted on April 11, 2003)

Hey Christine, I have the same problem, but I weigh myself everyday (please no lectures - I know I drive myself nuts). I can fluctuate up to 6 lbs in one day. Overall though, I have lost 84 lbs in almost 5 months - so I'm still happy. Good Luck and I think its normal to fluctuate a bit.

Ugh...this is the story of my life lately. 14 months post-op and for the past few months I will lose and gain the same two or three pounds for about a month before I go down another pound or two for good-then just repeat the cycle again...grrr...why it happens, who knows? I do weigh every day though and that is why I notice it so much...

I'm having the same problem and I'm only 6mos. out. I also weigh myself everyday. It's so hard not too. I'm going to find the "rules of the pouch" and see if maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Hi, i noticed my body has been doing that also the last few + months...I just dont stess over it i just take it as it comes as long as i dont go over a certain amount then i am ok usually what happens is i fluctuate between a few pnds for about a month - two months+ then i actually lose a couple of pnds and go through the same cycle of fluctuating .. im thinking its just water retention and also i dont think the scale really knows half the time what we weigh lol...who knows good question though.....

My story is exactly like Cindy's. I will lose and regain the same few lbs. all the time. YOu asked why though- wish I could tell you. Sometimes I drank an extra alot of water the day before, or our bodies are just fluctuating for no reason. But, I weigh myself everyday as well. I'm 11 months post-op and still obsessed about it, wish I wasn't. lol Could be doing worse things. Not sure as to why it happens, but as long as it isn't going up 10lbs, you're fine! goodluck to yoU!

Take heart! Your weight will not be constantly the same. Even if you weigh yourself 50 times in the same day it will fluctuate. Now, 2-3 pounds is perfectly acceptable and for women it can change up to 5 lbs at that time of the month. If you are gaining and not losing it or it seems like an excessive amount, then you need to examine your intake, water, and excersize. But please, do not panic over 2 or 3 pounds! 10 months post-op today, -110 lbs, currently 141 lbs. Thank you very much!!!

I'd like to know why too. I have lost and regained the same 5# for the past 6 months!! Very discouraging.
