Question:
What is GERD and what are it's symptoms?
Sometimes I get a pain in my chest/stomach area, it feels a bit like heartburn, but it's not related to food. I get it sometimes if I'm in a hurry or stressed, but other times I get it for no reason. It's a acidic-burning feeling that seems to radiate from my stomach opening to the back of my throat, and it hurts for a few seconds, and then it's gone. It's so weird. Thought maybe it was GERD. Anyone else experience this? — beeda (posted on April 7, 2003)

Debra, I'm not one who would feel comfortable making a
"diagnosis" of your current problem with heartburn. GERD stands
for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. The symptoms you describe may be
indicative of this, but as Bob said, your really should contact your PCP.

I have the same symptoms. I have an appointment with a Digestive Spec.
next week to see if I have GERD. I am 2 yrs post opt. but have not been
able to make it to my goal weight. I would definitely go to the doctor.
