Question:
Has anyone had any dealings with Virginia Blue Cross Blue Shield Trigon/Anthem?
Just wanting comments from others with same insurance company so that I can try and gauge what I am in for with approval process. Thanks!! — 2doOrnot2do (posted on April 4, 2003)

I had Trigon BCBS before they swtiched to Anthem. I had keycare 25 PPO
group policy that my husband and I were able to get because we owned our
own company. It took my doc 2 weeks to get my paperwork over to them, and
then I was denied 4 days later. But only because the doc had sent in the
wrong surgery codes. After they finally got the codes right, about 1 1/2
weeks later I was approved. I had LAP RNY at St. Marys in Richmond. I never
had to deal with the insurance company. Out of pocket I paid about $800 for
anesthesia- spelling, surgeon fees, $25 doc visits before surgery, blood
work, psych visit, and hospital stay. Not too shabby. Good luck to you.

I have Keycare PPO and was approved in two weeks! They paid promptly! I
ended up paying $1900 out of pocket (my 20% of the bill). Good luck to you

I have the same ins. as you. Anthem BCBS of Virginia PPO (was Trigon
until Jan). If you want the lap band, forget it. If you want RNY and your
BMI is over 40, you will get same day approval. They only approve short
limb though.
